Stroke: No Time to Lose Health for a Lifetime Workshop

July 7, 2010

"Health for a Lifetime,” a series of free workshops presented by the city of Phoenix Human Services Department and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, will offer health information for older adults and the community. The next workshop, “Stroke: No Time to Lose,” will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at Adam Diaz Senior Center, 4115 W. Thomas Road.

Lucy Ranus, registered nurse and program coordinator for Barrows Prevention Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, will discuss why minutes count when symptoms of a possible stroke appear. She will share warning signs and symptoms and why it is important to get to a designated stroke center as quickly as possible.

Future monthly workshops will include information about how to speak to your doctor, how to live with Parkinson’s, grandparents raising grandchildren, and diabetes management and prevention. The workshops are free and open to the public and support the mission of the Healthier Phoenix Initiative. For more workshop information, call 602-262-1609.
